Photo Essay....

Nora Teresa Barry Farrell was born on June 5, 1911. Not many people can say they were alive for events such as the Titanic sinking and furthermore, not many people can say they lived in lower Manhattan during the Great Depression. “Nanny”, the name Nora is now called by everyone, family or not, married the love of her life, John Farrell in 1936. Nanny had three children, Lurana, Eddie, and Peter. She has endured much pain in her life. Nanny lost her husband at a young age and had to raise her three children on her own. She later had to bury two of her children, Lurana and Eddie, after they lost their battles to cancer. Throughout her life, as she has touched the hearts of many by being everyone and anyone’s “nanny”, and has seen much happiness and watched her family grow. She has thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, all of whom love her dearly and wouldn’t be the people they are today without her wisdom, guidance, and love. Two weeks ago was Nanny’s 100th Thanksgiving, and all of her family packed into one house for the day to recognize what we are most thankful for, each other, the family that Nanny created!
